What are pneumatic ripple beds (Alternating pressure air mattresses) ?
Pneumatic ripple beds are the most advanced devices to prevent & manage pressure sores world wide. Their effective results have replaced static air mattress, water beds & foam beds globally. Pneumatic ripple beds have two sets of air blown cell columns. These columns inflate & deflate at an alternate cycle of 5-10 min. with the help of a pneumatic pump. This helps in avoiding patient's continuous contact with bed & prevents pressure sores.
Goal of Treatment For Foot Problems
In treating the various aspects of foot complications, there are both shourt and long-term goals of treatment. The shor-term goals entail relief of pain and inflammation, usually provided by shock-absorbing, cushioned heels and supportive orthoses. the long-term goals involve control, mechanical correctin, and preventino of overpronatin of the foot, through use of an orthosis that incorporates heel posting, medica logitudinal arch support and first-ray support.
How does NORMA PSP work ?
- Alternate inflation & deflation cycle keeps changing the pressure points.
- Countinuous change of pressure points promotes the adequate blood supply to vulnerable points.
- The bouncy nature of air cells and tubes helps to disperse the shear forces.
- Some advanced variants of NORMA PSP are air loss mattresses which release small amount of air that helps to avoid moisture & maintain the patient's bed surface dry.
